SUPPORT

The material in the textblock which provides the surface on which text is written or media is applied. Paper and parchment are the most common types of Islamic manuscript supports. In the early period, papyrus was also used in some regions, chiefly Egypt. Other types of regionally specific supports are also used, such as dluwang in Indonesia.
